These Days

Autumn Family Session in the rockpools at Merewether. There is a tendency to think memories live inside the big moments.Birthdays. Milestones. Holidays. First days of school. But more often, I think they live somewhere quieter. In the way little hands instinctively reach for yours. The gap in their smile before adult teeth arrive. Wind tangled hair after an afternoon spent barefoot by the ocean. The way they still lean into you now, when you know one day they won’t.

I think these are the moments we miss most. Not the milestones. The glimmers.

The beautifully ordinary pieces of life that quietly disappear while we’re busy living them. And somehow, years later, become the things we would give anything to return to.
